Privacy Policy

Chalna is a camera app that shoots like a roll of film and shows you the pictures the next morning. There is no sign-up, no server, and the app never uses the internet. Photos stay on this device.

1. What we collect

  • We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts or location. There is no account, so you are never identified.
  • Roll records and settings — the look of each roll, how many frames you took and when, when it developed, and settings such as developing time, saving to Photos and metadata. All of it is stored only on your device and is never uploaded.
  • No advertising identifier is read and there are no analytics.

2. Camera and Photos permissions

  • Camera access is used only to take pictures. The app does not store or analyse what the preview shows.
  • Add-to-Photos access (iPhone) is requested only to save developed pictures to a “Chalna” album in your library. The app does not read other photos in your library. On Android 10 and later, pictures are saved to Pictures/Chalna without any permission; only Android 9 and earlier ask for storage write access.
  • No location data is written into your photos, and location permission is never requested. By default photos are saved with no metadata; turn that off in Settings and only the capture time and the look name are kept in the file.

3. Before and after developing

  • Frames that have not developed yet live only in the app's private storage. At developing time the originals are saved to your Photos library, and the app keeps only a reduced copy (1200 px on the long side) to show the contact sheet. It is removed when you delete the app.
  • If saving to Photos is turned off in Settings or access is declined, the originals stay in the app's private storage.
  • At no stage do photos go to a server. Chalna has no server.

4. Notifications

  • The “roll developed” notification is a local notification scheduled on the device. It is not a server push, and the app works if you decline notifications.
  • On Android the app uses exact alarms to develop on time, the boot-completed signal to restore the schedule after a restart, and vibration. All of it runs on the device.

5. Sharing and printing

  • Sharing or printing a contact sheet creates an image only when you run it, and you choose where it goes. The app never exports on its own.

6. Advertising and tracking

  • No ads, no advertising identifier, no analytics, no third-party SDKs, no tracking.

7. Deletion

  • Rolls can be deleted one by one inside the app. Deleting the app removes every roll record, setting, undeveloped frame and contact-sheet copy inside the app.
  • Photos already saved to your library are yours and remain. Delete them in the Photos app if you wish.
  • Because nothing is stored on a server, no separate deletion request is needed.

8. Children

  • Chalna is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

9. Changes

  • Any change is posted on this page with a new effective date.
